I am a mental health counselor working with adults and adolescents (aged 13+) offering individual counseling, couples counseling, and parent coaching. I serve clients in-person in Mount Vernon and telehealth clients in Washington State. I work collaboratively with my clients to foster change and help them work towards their goals. Using an integrative approach to fit each unique client, I draw upon evidence-based modalities including Relationally-Focused Psychodynamic Therapy (RFPT), Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Marriage and Family Systems. Mindfulness practices, attachment theory, and developmental theories often inform my work with clients as well. Using a relational lens, I take an interest in the client’s interpersonal relationships and the larger systems that impact them believing that we often are harmed, heal, and transform through relationships.

Listening closely to the body and the mind, I work to support clients in developing awareness and self-discovery so that they can live more fully and freely. Research shows that the most significant agent of change in therapy is an authentic relationship between the client and counselor. I strive to show up genuinely, attune to each client, and build deep and meaningful relationships where each client feels seen in their experience. I embrace opportunities to work with diverse populations and all are safe and welcome here. I look forward to the prospect of partnering with you and seeing if we are a good fit!

About Emily

Before becoming a counselor, I spent 6 years as an elementary school teacher and loved working with students and their families. My classroom ran on strong relationships, humor, and a dash of controlled chaos, all of which have translated into my work as a counselor. A bookworm who thrives on rainy days, you can often find me curled up with a cup of tea and a book. I also have a deep love for the Pacific Northwest and love spending time in the many beautiful places that Washington offers.

Welcome!
